The anti-anginal effect of Cordarone is caused by coronarodilator and anti-adrenergic action, reduction of need of a myocardium for oxygen.

The medicine is a receptor antagonist of P2Y12class to adenosine diphosphate (ADP), and consequently inhibits the activation and aggregation of platelets. Since platelets are involved in the development of atherosclerosis complications, the inhibition of platelet function may lead to a decrease in the frequency of cardiovascular complications.
