The therapeutical indications include bacterial infection of the urinary tract (pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis), genitals (prostatitis, cervicitis, endometritis), gastrointestinal tract (salmonellosis, shigellosis), uncomplicated gonorrhea. Also used to prevent infections in patients with granulocytopenia, diarrhea of travelers.
